Facelift MINI Cooper Electric - LCI J01 bereits 2027 - Generation? J01 Nachfolger neu?

    früher was passieren. Daher:

Big facelifts incoming for Mini Cooper, Countryman and Aceman

    (…)

In his first appearance with UK media, he told Autocar that "you will see my work in an upcoming LCI"; 'Life Cycle Impulse' being the BMW Group's code for a major model update.

Hampf gave little away on how significant any changes would be but said they will be an "important milestone" for the brand, steered by "customer feedback from this generation".

Given the line-up is still relatively fresh, it is likely that a restyled Cooper and Countryman will arrive late next year - four years after they first arrived - and a new Aceman in 2028.

Hampf added that brand collaborations such as the new Paul Smith edition of the Cooper and the previous Deus Ex Machina concept cars would become more important in keeping the line-up fresh, despite its limited breadth. "Short-term limited editions and collaborations will create some awareness and some appreciation for Mini," he said. "It doesn't always need to be an entirely new car; it's a bit of storytelling and adapting the current products to lifestyles."

  • Next Mini Cooper to be inspired by 2001 'R50' – and could go RWD
Shift to BMW's Gen6 platform would be a landmark moment for the Mini; brand will choose "optimum" layout

Mini has started work on the next-generation Cooper, which is due in the coming years bearing the most significant transformation since BMW took charge of the marque three decades ago: a shift from front- to rear-wheel drive.

Bosses promise, however, that the new car will remain rigidly true to the brand's roots.

The current hatchback arrived in 2024 with the choice of both petrol and electric power - the latter then one of the few small EVs on sale. Its only true rival was the Fiat 500e, but it was also priced to compete with larger alternatives such as the Peugeot e-208 and Cupra Born.

A whole swathe of electric superminis have arrived since, however, with many - such as the Renault 5 and Fiat Grande Panda - offering comparable style, dynamics and kit plus more range for similar money.

Mini has responded with price cuts, and a facelift is due in the next couple of years to freshen up the Cooper - but the pressure is piling on as a wave of new entrants muscle in on the small EV segment, with models including the Volkswagen ID Polo, Cupra Raval and Kia EV2.

Combined with the might of Chinese newcomers such as BYD and Geely, that competition has forced the most radical rethink of Mini's trademark model in generations.

"We have started to work on the next generation of Mini, and what follows now is a look at the entire portfolio," new design chief Holger Hampf confirmed to Autocar, explaining that he will use a wave of facelifts and new derivatives in the meantime to set the tone for the British brand's future.

MINI COOPER NBX MINI COOPER EV 2032 -
Next MINI Cooper EV To Go R50 Retro And Rear Wheel Drive
    Aug 18, 26

BMW development boss Joachim Post has confirmed to Autocar what MotoringFile has been circling for the better part of eighteen months: the next generation MINI Cooper EV is a genuine candidate for rear wheel drive. Asked directly about the possibility, Post didn’t deny it. He said BMW would choose “the optimum for the package” and that “sheer driving pleasure” is the priority for future models. For a brand that has been front driven since 1959, that’s about as close to a confirmation as a BMW executive gets before the decision is locked.
